About
GDP
CHANCES ARE YOU WERE BORN TO BE GREAT...
GDP is a community arts development and education project, a registered section 21 tax-exempted company. It is locally based in the Western Cape, Helderberg region and is a Non Profit, Nongovernmental organisation established in 2014 to respond to the growing need for performing arts and life skills education for children and young adults from marginalised communities in the Helderberg and Overberg of the Western Cape, as to help them access further education, to enter the job market or create their own job in the Arts. It is compromised of full-time staff members, part-time staff and a couple of community-based assistants within the community structures in each of the listed regions. GDP works primarily within the communities in the under-resourced areas of Helderberg and Overberg in the Western Cape. We believe that opportunities to support one’s self, whilst making a meaningful contribution to one's community and society, can be provided through the arts.

Our Team
While the GDP board has overall legal and strategic responsibilities, the day to day management of the project is the responsibility of the Four governing members supported by the senior staff team comprising of educations based instructors/teachers.
The whole GDP team meets regularly to discuss material, routines, goals, and outcomes in order to shape course delivery.
All courses offered elect representatives who together form the learner representative council which meets regularly to discuss requirements, outcomes, and ideas with the GDP management team.
